Out to Lunch: Keepin’ It FRESH!
I absolutely love the Daring Divas Out to Lunch events! They are always jammed packed with amazing, daring women, we get to share a delicious lunch, the Visibility Tables showcase is always a treat and there a theme for me to teach and share about. This month’s Out to Lunch theme was: Keepin It FRESH! How to stay cutting edge in today’s overloaded marketplace.
Have you’ve ever felt the need to take a step back and take a deep look at what you truly want your business and life to look like?
A deep dive to take you to your next level?
That is exactly what I did in May. I took myself on a solo business retreat and the breakthroughs about how I want to serve my clients and community were priceless. It also helped me reflect on many tangible business strategies as to what is and isn’t working and how to keep moving forward in a way that allows me to stay ahead of the competition.
And I have to say, I accomplished all I set out to do and more, but not in the obvious way you might think. See I wanted to get soooooo much done! And the reality is, I actually accomplished more by doing less! What!?! Yes, let me say that again…
I ACCOMPLISHED MORE BY DOING LESS!
One of the takeaways I got from this solo business retreat was that sometimes you really do need to take a step back, stop, slow it all down, and BE in order to then leap forward! Don’t get me wrong, I am all about taking action, putting in the work and then some. But the clarity that came from allowing myself to slow down, was priceless and all the to do’s that didn’t get “done”, are now being handled in much more efficient ways.
So… On to this month’s Out To Lunch Theme: Keepin’ It FRESH!
How do we stay on top and ahead in the noise of today’s crowded market?
Do what keeps your soul lit up!
Take time to do what lights you up, take time to BE, and take time to connect with the people and things that most matter to you. As much as we want to spend 24/7 (or think we have to), when we take time to “refresh”, we become more productive, efficient and focused. And more importantly, we don’t lose sight of why it is we are in business in the first place.
It’s no secret the internet and online world is one of the most powerful tools to grow your business, but it’s also crowded and oversaturated. As humans, you, I and your potential clients thrives on real, in-person connection. Connect live through events, Meetup, networking, eventbrite both by attending events and creating your own. Get booked for speaking gigs where you can share your story and connect at a deeper level with your target audience.
I won’t bore you with statistics, but video continues to prove the most popular and effective form of consumption for today’s market. Again it has to do with connection! Both recorded and live video are a must to succeed in today’s online world! I’ll leave you with this… If you aren’t already doing it, START!
Be YOU, BE vulnerable, BE!
There is power in vulnerability! And remember who is going to do business with you, is going to because of YOU and not because of your service or product. Of course the quality of what you provide has to be top notch, but their decision to work with you, will be based on the fact that they want to work with YOU! The days of just “information content” are over! Stories are a must in your content, showing YOU is imperative to survive in today’s noise. Share your story(ies), share behind the scenes, share a little bit of the “personal”, share often and keep it real.
In a nutshell, continue to do what lights you up, but do more of it and make sure to “stop and smell the flowers”. Connect live at in-person events, by attending, hosting and speaking. Do more video, both recorded and live, people like them. And last but not least, be vulnerable, be you and keep it FRESH!
